Last month some of my family made a trip up to Tony Grove to go camping.
Lets just say in the 48 hours of being up there I only took 697 pictures..
So I will let them do the talking..
Here are the highlights of the trip...
KEEPING CLEAN
I was so excited that I could do Kennedy's hair in two french braids.
Keep it up and out of her face, fire and food.
I have been waiting forever to do it. And hey, it lasted all trip.
Miss Esther here was the only one who didn't get a spec of dirt on her!
It was pretty amazing...
As for Lucas....
He had to have a few wipe downs...
FOOD
Although we didn't get a picture of every meal, I think it's safe to say we ate like kings..
HIKING
Andrew went with a small group on a 8 mile hike, I didn't go so I don't have pictures.
But we went on our own little family hike.
It was fun.
Who knew it could be so fun?
"SCWAAA Get some FIRE WOOD!"
(that phrase from Peter Pan was used a lot the two days we were up there...)
My Dad's remote control hellicopter got caught in the tree.. we attempted some good ol' cheerleading skills to get it down which scared me to death... I apparently don't trust my brothers lifting me above the head.
My cheerleaders would not be proud.. haha
While those others were on the hike, my brother got a little creative with the wood chips..
(aka fire wood) and spent a few hours building a house,
to then burn. (and video tape the burning...)
We all watched in amazement.
Which leads us too...
The Camp FIRE
What is it with boys and fire anyway?
Nothing like just sitting around the camp fire.
This was MY highlight of the trip...
Scary Stories
The first night we told some fun scary stories around the fire with everyone. I love the picture above, great capture of the moment, and what is to come...
Then the next night we got rained on and so we told our own stories in our tent.
Andrew, Kennedy, Lucas, and me.
It was classic. So fun. Truly a memory I hope to NEVER forget!
We loved telling Kennedy stories like...
"Once there was a girl... she was so so so tall.... she was taller than the trees!!!"
she would gasp "ahh!!"
She was great, any time she understoud what was going on, or you would pause for dramatic effect, she followed through with a good "ohhh!" or deep enhale.
She also told some great stories by herself...;)
Sleeping... or the lack thereof...
Ohh boy, sleeping was a big deal. Camping with babies is a whole different ball game.
I had stressed about this for a long time before.
So we went and got a new 3 room tent.
I thought that giving Lucas his own room with a portable crib would solve all our problems...
(Yes it was only 4 of us for this massive tent. hopefully we can use it up when we have 10 kids.. haha ;)
Let's just say, after a few hours of screaming, and taking turns trying to rock him to sleep, I came up with a genius idea....
and that is where we slept the rest of the night and the next. It actually worked!!
From then on, he slept great, and so did everyone else around us :)
but let's not forget...
ALL THE (DIRTY) FACES
Who you go with can make or break your caming trip..
We definitely had a bunch that made it a blast!
PLAYING WITH COUSINS
I think Kennedy thought she was in heaven. She just got to play all day long!
These three girls are basically inseparable when they are together. I love it.
Hanging out at THE LAKE
FISHING
SKIPPING ROCKS
Last but not least...
Becoming ONE with Nature
