So here are a few pictures of our trip to St. George. We went down on friday with my brother Michael and his friend Steven. We got there at about 8pm and had dinner at Ruby River where Sophie and I shared a steak and ribs. Afterwards we went and found where we would be climbing the next day and we decided to do some night climbing and rapelling with our headlamps on (by this time Sophie was asleep in the car :) ) It was way fun that night with the perfect weather and the moon and stars out. Then the next day on saturday we woke up early, got some breakfast at denny's, and headed out to our spot! We got there and set up our lines and did some rapelling on the smaller, 50ft, cliff where sophie experienced her first rapell! She is fearless by the way. She got up there and immediately leaned over the edge and went. I think I was more scared for her than she was for herself. After our practice on the smaller wall we set up our ropes on the nearby 150ft cliff. It was a thrill to lean out over that edge and, trusting our ropes and gear, slowly lower ourselves down. So much fun! The first picture here is of my brother going Aussie style (face first) on the 150ft cliff. He and I had gone aussie style on the smaller wall but only he did it on the larger cliff. Anyway, we had a blast and we hope to make it a yearly trip. Sophie also gave me permission to teach our kids when they are old enough (5 years old :) ) Hope you enjoy the pictures!
